Yay. Finally got to see Charlie and the chocolate factory. Been waiting ages to get to see it.
Well worth the wait. Absolutely loved it. Burton, Depp and Elfman.. how could it go wrong. It looks so good - so weird - so much fun.
Don't like the Gene Wilder version. Mostly because of all the singing.. Little orangefaced men singing.. ok, fine.. But why must all the rest suddenly break into song.. 'Who can take the sunrise.. sprinkle it with dew..' Shut the fuck up...
Ok, have to admit. I did kind of miss the Oompa loompa doopadee do - I've got another puzzle for you songs. They really creep me out, and the Oompa Loompas were friggin scary... but still.. It's the oompa loompa songs..
The Deep Roy oopma loompas were more fun, less nightmarish.. but when someone says oompa loompas - I'll still be picturing little orangefaced men.. Wow, never said the words oompa loompas this many times - ever..
Too tired - can't form sentences.. Babysitting is exhausting. No babies for me any time soon.
Will fall asleep with my brain playing this on repeat:
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, the amazing chocolatier
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, everybody give a cheer
He's modest, clever, and so smart, he barely can restrain it
With so much generosity, there is no way to contain it

To contain it, to contain... to contain... to contain...
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, he's the one that you're about to meet
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, he's a genius who just can't be beat
The magician and the chocolate whiz
He’s the best darn guy who ever lived
Willy Wonka, here he is!

I find your post funny because I'm taking a Food in the Arts: Film class, the first film we focused on being Willy Wonka. ;) The initial candy man dude is definitely creepy/pedophile-esque, but I think he was supposed to be creepy. I actually like the Gene Wilder version much more; it's really meant for adults, not kids (I feel like the Tim Burton one is more kid-friendly, oooor maybe not, as it was creepy but in a different way).

Ah well. Candy is good.
