Even more selfpromotion

Insomnia is a bitch. But it resulted in a new video. This one is of Hugh Laurie getting hit over and over and over and over and over again. He's really good at it. As Stephen Fry said: "One of Hugh Laurie's extraordinary talents is being hit, for some reason he is a genius at it".
As far as I know, in only one of these clips is he getting hit for real. Can you spot which one?

A bit of shameless selfpromotion.
My first attempt at a fanvideo. Lost patience while editing.. Might try and fix it up later.
But anyway, here it is.
Oh, it's a Jeeves & Wooster one. Ok, so mainly Wooster (Hugh Laurie). It's set to Mr. Pinstripe Suit by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

I am daffodils.
I am the morning dew
I am the laughter of children.
I am the smell of freshly baked bread.
I am the postman's cheery good morning.
I am the yelp of a puppy freed from the microwave.
I am chicken fed corn.
The seven of clubs that fills the inside straight.
I am the grateful twinkle in your grandmother's eyes as you reverse the tractor off her legs
I am sugar, spice, and all things nice.
I am the click on an empty chamber when its your turn at russian roulette.
I am hope, love, mankind, the world.
I am everything.

Its called Lithium, by the way. If you're interested. Some side effects, but otherwise excellent

So SNL.. Umm... Maybe I just don’t get sketch comedy.. Well, no that’s not it – I think.. It just wasn’t all that funny was it? I enjoyed the protest song.. as I did when he did it on A bit of Fry & Laurie.. They should’ve just recycled some more of his old stuff.. I wonder how involved the guest stars are in the writing of the show.. The Queen bit was kinda funny, but it was a bit annoying to watch because they were so clearly reading off some prompter or something.. Normally you look at the person you speak to...But my god, the man has got great legs. And he is way better than I am at walking, or rather balancing on squishy material, in heels.. A bit too good at it maybe... Makes a pretty horrifying woman though.
And why are the sketches so long. I mean, some of them, like the weekend update thing went on forEVER. Beck was cool though. Played Nausea and Clap Hands. And it was a nice surprise to see Borat in the beginning.
So still, my favourite sketch with Hugh Laurie is the Derek Nippl-e one, or maybe Mr. Burmie.. or maybe.. the Mr. Dalliard or the John and Peter ones... or.. well, you get it.. something from the Fry & Laurie era.

Is it possible to ruin a CD in one day by overplaying it? Well, no I haven’t done that.. But I finally got my hands on The DecemberistsThe Crane Wife. Tried for some two weeks to get it. But either the record shops haven’t had, or it’s been sold out. I’ve only heard summersong, and I heard people say that was the weakest song on the album, which gave me very high expectations (I adore that one. I’m a sucker for cathcy tunes). I don’t like to have high expectations for anything. I’m a ‘the glass is half empty, and chipped, and I cut my lip on it’ kind of
person. I rather expect the worst and then be pleasently surprised, than the other way. Can’t help it. But still, this time I couldn’t help but to have major expectations. And I wasn’t let down. I absolutely LOVE it. All of it.
Also saw The Devil Wears Prada over the weekend. I guess I need to go to the cinemas to manage to sit through a whole film. If only it wasn’t so fucking expensive. Meryl Streep. WOW. I think I would’ve liked it better if they didn’t go with the happy ending. If Anne Hathaway, and all her one million teeth, had rather ‘sold her soul to the devil’..
Speaking of Meryl Streep. Just when I found out I really like Bravo Silva (it took me a while to decide..), they decide to call it quits. Bummer.
Oh, well..

I think I must have some sort of vitamin deficiency. I need to learn how to be a good vegetarian. Or start eating the flesh and muscles again.. I think I'll go for the first one. I do nothing but sleep and sleep. Woke up at 2pm today.. Ok, so it might have something to do with the fact that I didn't go to bed before 5am.. but still.. I am tired and depressed all the time. Damn these sunless autumn months. Well, actually, the sun has been with us for quite a long time this year.. But.. I can't focus on anything anymore. It's a miracle I managed to finish the few projects I was working on. And movies. I lose interest so quickly. Tried to watch this norwegian psychological thriller called, Naboer. The guy that plays the lead is crazy talanted. But I fell asleep halfway through. Tried watching the Libertine, and had to fast forward through it.. Everyone spoke in kind of smurfy voices. I did manage to sit through the whole of Peter's friends... but probably only because I am slightly obsessed with Hugh Laurie at the moment.. On SNL tonight - with Beck! Hopefully some kind souls will upload it to somewhere.. Seen a few episodes of that show, and I can't say I was too impressed. But maybe I just caught them on some bad nights... Although, from what I've read the last few years have been more or less on long bad night... Well, I'll keep an open mind. Watched a documentary on Lou Reed yesterday. Fascinating fellow - wonderfully weird.. He and Hugh look like they could be distant cousins.. I mean. They kinda look a bit similar, at least in some photos..

The christmas cookies have started to appear in the grocery stores now. I fucking hate that. Give it a rest. It's 2 months. Like always, I want to escape the whole christmas thing. But I chickened out. Going travelling soon, but I made my travel plans so that I return in time for all the hassle. But hopefully the sun has cheered me up a bit. Except, I guess it's the start of the rainy season where I'm going.. Well, there will probably be some sun too.. South east Asia here I come! Found out through my pre-travel preparations, that I, well, am incapable of making any kind pre-travel preparations. I know when I'm leaving and when I'm going to return. Other than that.. Well.. I'm visiting friends, so it's not like I'm going to wander aimlessly around there. Oi..look at the time.. think it's time to get up.

God, I'm soo bored..

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
"I didn't look in your second drawer, so you have no reason to be embarrassed" Ellen DeGeneres - My point and I do have one

Why? I already did my workout today

Ridiculous, but at least it keeps me from writing on my project - wouldn't want to have done anything useful this weekend

15. What is the last film you saw?
The Producers - the Broderick, Lane one.. mweh.. thought I would like it - but not so much no.. Funny songs though. I can see that it must have been brilliant on stage.

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?

An apartment and a piano.. or maybe a keyboard.. I wouldn't want to inflict the same horror on my neighbours as my upstairs neighbour has done to us.. Actually, he hasn't played in a while.. maybe he heard our mocking comments and was discouraged.. no, he has probably finally realised that he possesses no musical talent - what so ever.

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
Welcome! Your family is waiting, there's wine over there. Oh, and no hard feelings, don't blame you for doubting. I'll explain later.

25. 4 people who must also do this meme in THEIR journal, if they haven't already.
Nobody - I hope nobody is as sad and pathetic as me

"Read less, more TV."

So become somewhat obsessed with this House MD show.. Haven't been aired in Norway yet, but I saw a promo somewhere.. and now I've managed to get through both seasons in a frightenly short period of time.. I have no life....
Who would have guessed that the Prince Regent would end up being most known as a hunky tv doc.

Very clever show, funny, good actors, brilliant main character and great dialouge.

"Nobel invented dynamite. I won't accept his blood money."
"It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. The only variable is about what."
"I've found that when you want to know the truth about someone that someone is probably the last person you should ask."
"Humanity is overrated."
"The eyes can mislead, the smile can lie, but the shoes always tell the truth."
"Like I always say, there's no "I" in team. There's a "me" though, if you jumble it up."
"I teach you to lie, cheat, and steal, and as soon as my back's turned you wait in line?"
"Raw food.. If only her ancestors had mastered the secret of fire."

Went to see Maria Solheim play at John Dee on saturday.
http://www.myspace.com/mariasolheim
Always really enjoyed her records, but I have never seen her preform live. Sounded very good - a bit more lively than it is on the records. The newest record, Will there be spring, seems to be a bit more.. up beat.. than her previous ones. Going to add it to my collection tomorrow.

Played for about an hour an a half.
Came back for an encore in which she even preformed a guitar solo (only her second time to do it live).

My memory is getting worse and worse, but here are some of the songs she played
Ocean needs water
Richard
Lady of my life
Too many days
The snow has killed

Wildest day
Different seasons
Juice
Kissing me

A more lively version of Take my heart
Encore
Where do people go
You – Every morning

Rumour has it that she will also release a book this fall containining some of her drawings, which will be very cool. Here drawings are so cute http://www.kjentfolk.no/musikere/solheim/frameset.php?load=http%3A//www.kjentfolk.no/scripts/bildearkiv.php?kat_id=1044&css=http%3A//www.kjentfolk.no/musikere/solheim/css/msie.css

Oh.. and you hear that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile hunter, is dead. For real this time. Heard so many rumours throughout the years, but this time, sadly, it's true. And what a freaksih death it was. Stingray barb through the heart. Found his shows quite entertaining and educational to watch, but I've never been a fan of the way he has to handle all the animals. I guess it's educational in that you get to see it up close.. But it's got to be very stressful for the animals - I mean, having a rather large person chasing after you and picking you up by the tail or whatever.. But still, I was an admirer of his work. Conservation biology and education is something I hope to move into eventually..

So I totally forgot about this little blog. Well, almost. There's ticked in a few comments. So thank you for that. But now that I've finished the whole school thing - I haven't really had anything to put off doing.. Until now.. Have a few projects I'm working on so of course... I'm back.
Finally saw King Kong, the Peter Jackson one, last night. My god, what a ridiculous film. I really was expecting to enjoy it alot. But fuck me how stupid. It would've probably been better on a large cinema screen.. but no...
Not that I expected it to be believable or anything. But there is a limit to how much I'm willing to accept. Ann's only injury from being tossed, shaken, poked and whatnot by Kong, and running barefoot through the jungle was a little tiny scratch on her face. And her hair looked pretty good after the whole ordeal too.. The whole falling through the vines thing. Gimme a break. Jimmy shooting of all the bugs often while closing his eyes. So much more..
And it was waaaay too long. No need for that whole plot line surrounding Ann Darrow, the theatre closing down and the old man. And the one between Jimmy and Hayes. Ok, some backstory is fine. But then what the hell happened to Jimmy. If you're going to get us invested in the kid. Don't just cut him out of the movie like that. Give us some closure. Should've just concentrated on the main characters.
Also seemed to have way less trouble on the way back from the jungle than going in to it. What - all the maneating bugs and dinosaurs and stampeeding dinosaurs had a little nap? And the natives, that btw looked like rejects from the ork army. They stayed out of their way the rest of the time? And how the hell did the few men that wasn't killed, by rolling balls of dinosaurs and other stuff, get that somewhat heavy ape on the boat. And keep it calm and fed the whole trip back. Could go on and on, but I'll stop now. It's just that I was really dissapointed, because I was expecting it to be really great..
Kong looked good though, and New York. And the acting was pretty good.

So watched some clips from the Oscars.. Jon Stewart.. I adore him, but his humor is maybe a bit to.. narrow? (well, that's what it is in norwegian anyway..) for this kind of show.. Dolly Parton is kinda shaped like a barbie doll.. How the hell does she manage to stand upright.. she must have major backproblems. I do enjoy her singing though, and liked the song.
Skipped the ohmygodthankyousomuch's.. well, caught George Clooney's, which I thought was a good one.. he should host the Oscars if that other guy.. Billy Crystal still wants a break.. But anyway, the music they played in the background was annoying and sort of tasteless I thougth. Why are they so concerned about the speech time when they crammed in millionbillion clips and montages in the show.. my god that was alot, and I watched an edited version of the show.
Enjoyed the comedy duo of Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin. Haven't seen that many Altman movies.. I like MASH, Short cuts and the Player and Gosford Park was ok. Gingerbread man and Dr T were pretty boring though, and I know I've seen Prêt-à-Porter too.. but can't remember a thing about it.. so can't have been that good.
As for the nominated films.. I've only seen two of them.. Brokeback and Crash. Some of them still haven't been shown here yet. There's alot I want to see, but it's so ridicilously expensive to go to the movies.. I'll wait until they come out on DVD..
