"If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done." - author unknown

So I'm sitting here with all of my stuff all over the floor. Going home on vacation tomorrow morning. I find it easier to pack when everything is spread out where I can see it. I don't forget that many things when I can throw the things I don't need back in the closet, instead of having to take the things I need out of the closet.. But of course, I'm not packing..I suddenly felt the need to learn more about the genius that is Jon Brion. Maybe I should make LA my next vacation spot.. See for myself what the Largo fuss is all about..
Eternal sunshine isn't playing in Norway until the end of august. It sucks that so many movies takes ages to get here. Fahrenheit 9/11 isn't coming until mid september! They are going to show Coffee and cigarettes during the Quart festival. It looks a bit too weird - but I'm going to squeeze it in while waiting for the Pixies. Oh shit, I should really buy tickets soon..
I think I've been sniffing in too much of the formaline at the lab.. My brain is acting weird.. Can't even finnish a sentence. Or maybe I just need to sleep..
Well, first I'm going to read the articles I found on Mr Brion. Have to see if I can find my copy of Meaningless. It's been ages since I've listened to that.
Or maybe I should finnish packing first...

Things I rather be doing than ever watching football, or soccer if you will, on television again:
- Watch paint dry or milk go bad or the grass grow or.. oh you get what I mean..
- Clean the toilet
- Listen through every nu-metal record out there (or maybe not..)
- Iron my clothers
- Watch days of our lives or any one of those kind of shows
I can't even think of more things - my brain disintegrated during the everlasting game.. As if 90 minutes isn't enough.. No, it had to be extra time and a penalty shootout...
Thank God for beer..

Grant-Lee Phillips

So I was sitting here with Smallville playing on the TV in the background, and then suddenly what do I hear but Mona Lisa by Grant-Lee Phillips. Haven't heard his songs much on anything. There are a few og his songs that occasionally get played on the radio, and then there of course are his appearences on Gilmore Girls. But I guess his latest album have been getting quite a bit of attention. Talk show appearances and stuff. Well deserved. Maybe we can hope for a live DVD from him somewhere in the not so distant future.. My copy of Elixirs and Remedies is beginning to be worn out..
Off to watch a football match. Wonder why I said yes to that. Can't think of much that is as boring as that.. Oh well. New experience - haven't watched sports in a pub before.. Haven't really watched any kind of sports in years.. Not since I had a small, shortlasting hockey obsession when I was about 16..

My teeth feels like they are going to fall out.. That can't be good.
It was raining today, still is, so I didn't go down to school to clean up at my lab space. But I did manage to drag my ass down to rent a few dvds.. Rented X-Men, because for some strange reason I felt like seeing something with Bruce Davison in it.. Also rented Thirteen. Didn't like either of them that much. If I could have a superpower I think I would like to be able to teleport, or maybe move things with my mind...

"Procrastinate now. Don't put it off." - Ellen DeGeneres

So yesterday after I got back from teaching a bunch of tired first year students about seaweeds (oh what fun we had...I suck as a teacher..) I finally decided it was time to clean up my room. But of course I didn't do that - I ended up moving around all of the furniture instead. So many choices when you live on 12square metres... But anyway, now it's a complete mess, and the room looks smaller - if that's even possible. Ok, it could be because all my stuff is on the floor.. So I should be cleaning right about now... or really I should be at school.. I should have been there three hours ago... But instead I'm here. Writing this nonsense.
I still feel a bit..uggh.. Too many outdoor concerts this week. But it was well worth it - except, maybe the Ash concert (which was the one where I got the cold..) Don't really like them too much, so don't know why I stayed for the entire show. I was soaking wet, and it was freezing.. But no, I had to stay..
The Wilco concert was ok. Not terrific, but I guess 15:30 is not the greates time to play, and the crowd was pretty small. Also I was in a bit of a reduced state due too my cold.. They played for about an hour. It was all very soft and mellow. They do make wonderful music - and the sun even showed itself for a little while :) I guess the guys from Ash kept their promise ("We've been sent by the irish gouvernment to get our rain back")
I really enjoyed Hummingbird - have to buy their new album now.
I was feeling kind of crap, so I left right after their set. I would have liked to see Bonnie Riatt though..
Only a few weeks until the Quart festival. Hopefully the weather will be nicer. Don't know how many days I'm going to go.. But definately going to see the Pixies. And maybe Morrisey and the Shins.. or maybe I'll just take the boat out and hope that we can hear it.. If only it wasn't that expensive...

Bowie

So friday. Finally got to see Bowie live:) Ok, so I didn't get to see that much, because I had to work.. Working for free at the festival was pretty much the only way I could get in.. It had been sould out for ages.. But I managed to sneak out from my stand too watch quite a bit. And it's a small place (takes about 7500) so my stand was near the stage.
It was a brilliant show, but not without drama.. At the end of the third song it almost looked like it was over. Someone in the crowd threw a lollie up on stage, and it somehow managed to hit him right in his left eye. It apparantly got stuck in between the eyeball end eyelid.. I didn't really get to see what happened. But people say he stumbled towards the stage exit where a guy from his management came rushing out. He looked at the eye, and then pulled the lollie out. Ouch. Bowie came back out on stage and started a minute long runthrough of all the profanities in the english language.. But, luckily, the incident only seemed to fire him up. He started again with a Pixies song, and kept it going for about 2 hours.

Another concert

So today there was a free concert at the park:) PetreSessions. Three excellent bands played. Minor Majority opend, then Euroboys and finally Jim Stärk. It lasted for about two hours.
There were thousands of people there, so it was difficult to find a place to sit. After a bit of searching, we finally found a place under a huge tree. Enjoyed a very expensive focaccia sandwich and an ice coffee. And then it started to rain. Good thing I brought an umbrella. Also the giant tree protected us from the rain - at least a bit. Couldn't actually see the stage from where we sat, and the sound was pretty bad.. So when the rain stopped, we decided to walk around to look at all the people. Ended up quite close to the stage, and caught the last of Jim Stärk's set. It's nicer when you actually can see the people who are playing.
So it was a very nice concert, but it was a bit cold. I got a cold from yesterday. So I'm guessing that tomorrow I won't be able to breathe through my nose.. Oh well.. I'm willing to suffer a bit for good music..
Other things.. My professor kept complaining about how messy my work area at the lab is..He has complained about that since I started.. But finally today I decided to organize it. It actually got much better.. I should relly learn to do things at once instead of putting it off constantly.. never said that before...

Hmmm..let's see if this works

So I just got back from a Paul McCartney concert. My ears are ringing so I can't sleep... Nothing good on tv, so I ended up here.. Not really sure how this works... but if this ends up on the thing I guess I figured it out.. Why must I be so dense when it comes to computers..
The concert was really good. He sang alot of my favourites. Blackbbird, Srg. pepper, Helter Skelter, Fool on the hill.. Lots and lots of Beatles songs. He kept it going for about three hours I think!
But I must say I prefer smaller venues.. where you can actually see the band.. Ok, so I could see them, but they looked like little lego men.. After about an hour standing on my toes trying to look over, or between, all the freakishly tall people in front of me, we ended up sitting down way in the back, just looking at the big tv screen.
Not going to write anymore in case this doesn't work. Also, why am I writing in english.. oh well.. if anyone stumbles upon this little page - please ignore all the grammar and spelling mistakes
